Based in Leith, Edinburgh, Scoot started life as a small family business in 2003, when husband and wife Ranjit and Mike Anderson and Ranjit’s brother Subby Dhillon gave up their day jobs to establish the company.
Initially doing the driving themselves, with a proto-type scooter that broke down when it rained, they quickly decided to take on the redesign of the scooters, coming up with a customised model that was infinitely more reliable.
Today husband and wife team Mike and Ranjit are still firmly at the helm of the business, driving it with the same attention to detail and enthusiasm as in those early days. It's fair to say that the Scoot family is a little bit bigger nowadays though, with a team of 20, a fleet of customised bikes and a customer base of over 10,000 personal and corporate customers in Central Scotland.
Despite the huge growth that Scoot has enjoyed in recent years, successfully weathering the economic downturn, the family values which Scoot was founded upon are still very much evident today in the way that Scoot look after their valued customers – whose numbers continue to grow year on year.
It is Mike and Ranjit's ultimate aim to see Scoot in, "every city which requires such a service," and they have exciting plans to franchise the business in other UK cities, starting with Glasgow.
